Noluthando Lobese-Moropa is an award-winning designer in theatre, television, photography and commercials.. She has acted as a judge for the South African Film and Television Awards for production design in feature films. She continues to collaborate with the premiere talents in theatre, film and photography.

She has a fashion design background which includes working as a store manager and design intern at Sun Goddess. She was introduced into the world of theatre by her Mentor, Nadya Cohen (award winning designer). They have collaborated on various productions at the home of South African theatre: Market Theatre.

Thando has studied in Stockholm Stadsteatern, Sweden, as a design apprentice under the mentorship of Charlie Koroly.2008.
In 2012 she was a designer in Salzburg at the Young Directors Festival as a production designer.

As an installation artist she was accepted at the MacDowell Colony (NH) in New York. The work she developed there “What it is” continued as an installation piece at Studio X, Johannesburg (GSAPP Columbia University).

She was an observer at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival (Cooperstown) New York.

Thando also worked on the Floating Stage (Bregenz Festspielehaus, Austria, 2013) as a design intern; under the mentorship of Johan Engels set designer for Zauberflöte by Mozart.

She was one of the artists from ‘JHB Massive’ a group of artists from diverse artistic backgrounds that went to showcase at The annual street festival in Accra,Ghana 2015.

Most of her theatre work has been staged in different countries such as Germany, Austria, Ghana,The United States, Sweden, Amsterdam ,and London.

She has worked on numerous theatre productions with the premier directors and choreographers in South Africa – James Ngcobo , Fiona Ramsey, Neil Coppen , Princess Zinzi Mhongo ,Lindiwe Matshikiza, Constanza Macras (Berlin)Nhlanhla Mahlangu,Sonia Radebe. Robert Lehmeier (Berlin). John Kani , Bobby Heaney ,Vanessa Cooke, Etc.

She has been featured in a national television documentary ” Life’s a Stage” behind the scenes project in Theatre – aired on SABC in (2012).

Her work in television includes, Mutual Friends S2,Dir.Norman Maake.It’s Complicated S2,. Budweiser,IEC,Turbovite,WAHL,Phillips Etc… as a production designer.
